Nymphenburg Palace grounds

There are little rivers and trails all over the grounds.

There are five or six different buildings around the grounds as well.  This one was built for one of the queens.  She was unusual for her time.  She liked hunting with the men and loved her hunting dogs very much.  She had this little hunting cottage made as a place to rest for her and the hunting party.

She even had little dog houses built into the walls.

This was the ceiling in the Hall of Mirrors.  I had a fun picture I did that I cannot find for the life of me.  I did a panorama shot from the middle of the round hall of mirrors.  I was in each of the mirrors all the way around.  I think I might have accidentally deleted it while I was transferring pictures from my phone.

This was the kitchen in the hunting cottage too.

Janelle at the pump house.

The bath house was the moldiest of the buildings we were in.  It was basically the King's Turkish bath house.  He'd have this bath filled up with water from the lake it was next to.  It was decorated with Asian art.

We got to walk through this field with little purple crocuses all over.  SO BEAUTIFUL!  It is amazing how all the Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassicism we were surrounded by and none of it was more beautiful that simple purple flowers in an open field.

This was fun... You could pay to be ferried down the grounds.  We walked, but it was fun to see.

This is the one that we ran out of time for, but from the pictures looked more interesting than the bath house.  I wish we'd known that and maybe skipped that one for this one.

This was the 'hermitage'.  The King had a man cave built pretty close to the palace itself.  It consisted of very elegant but plain wood paneled rooms with a writing desk and book shelves all connected to a room for worship that was very elaborately adorned with shells.

Pump House.

This is a good one to show the trees... I love the trees.  It also shows how overcast most of the day was.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
