Last Yellowstone day

I was so insanely stiff from whatever was going on with my hips that we decided that our last day would be driving up to Lamar Valley to see animals.  We finished the Steelheart series with the kids and now they all talk about super powers.  We saw lots of elk, thousands of bison, a coyote and a bear.  Seth was so excited to see so many bison.  Jer took him down to an overlook to look at the valley and the bison.  I let him take my camera and I have a million pictures of Seth's bison views.

This one was the baby bear that we saw.  It's hard to see in the picture, but it's the right hand corner of the big rock in the middle.

This is the valley where Seth just got so excited that he couldn't just sit and look anymore.  He had to go see them. I wish I had my camera just long enough to take a picture of the Seth and his cute daddy walking down to the outlook together.

Jer and I think that this bison must be a farmer.  He was meandering down the road with a piece of grass in his mouth.  Just like a farmer driving a tractor down the road.

These last three pictures were from the fairy falls trail.

Yellowstone River

We were going to hike the rim of the Yellowstone Grand Canyon, but I was really struggling to walk that day.  What we ended up doing is driving to the different vantage points and doing small little hikes.  I saw these stairs that went down into the canyon and I kind of want to do them sometime.  They were closed during COVID because they weren't wide enough for giving space between people.   It was so pretty though.  I can see why so many people want to come to this one.

This one was the upper falls.  I think I liked this one as well.  Plus, when you hiked by this one you could feel the water spray and it was hot.

Mammoth

I got this one a few days after we visited the springs.  It hailed on our way back from the Lamar Valley to our campsite.  We took refuge under some trees near this pullout.  It looked so pretty with the hail on it.  I'm just glad that it didn't hail while we were out of the van.  It was hailing so hard that I thought that it would crack our windshield.

I think that they have elk here all the time.  There were all these elk napping on the lawn and a sign right in front of it saying not to approach the elk.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
