Random doings

Syl hid all of her mice under the fridge.  I pulled them out, which made her happy... but then she proceeded to start batting them back under the fridge again.

I pulled out the eggs to make dinner and ended up having to clean the floor, fridge and inside the freezer.

We took Seth to the Provo City Center temple for the first time.  That was fun.

It was so hot this year that we didn't get many flowers.  We finally got some blooms a month late.

Seth got his birthday present legos and was in love with them... he's so cute.

I took two photo shoots at the Oquirrh Mountain temple in the last two weeks.

Ada and I got to see the gilded doors at BYU before she moved out.

I went to help mow the lawn and ended up eating raspberries as a yummy reward.

YM's camp

The next week was YM's camp.  It's Seth's first and maybe Sam's last.... I'm glad that they had a chance to go together.  They were so cute.  They each got there and went to chat with their friend groups.  Sam said that the testimony meeting was amazing.  They also did a 7 mile hike out to a lake and did a survival test... they had to build a fire, structure and boil water.  Sam's group won that challenge but failed the putting up a tent challenge.  I asked Seth how it went when he got back, he said, "Amaze, amaze, amaze, amaze!" (which is a quote from his current favorite movie 'Hail Mary Project'.)

While they were gone, Beth took Evelyn and I to an art night at BYU museum.  It was about movement in lines and making personal works of art as testimony to share with others.

Ada and Jer went hiking with the Tarkingtons.  Timp had too much snow, so they only made it about 1/3 of the way up.

Jer cleaned the garage and the cats were worried about all the activity out there.

Evelyn passed the drivers test after spending two days reading the drivers manual.  Now to drive together a lot.  She was so nervous driving home for the first time.  I'm glad that we're on to the next step.

I went and got Tigress shaved for the very hot summer.

Japan 2

After a very important night's sleep, we woke up to sporadic rains.  We decided to go to the Tokyo National Museum first so that we could be mostly out of the rain. The museum was spectacular.  The night lights in Tokyo are fun to walk through and unlike many big cities, I didn't feel unsafe walking through the streets late at night.  Seth found that he loves miso soup and begged everyone for theirs whenever we were given them with our dinners.  We did okay for most of the day, but by 5pm about half of us were dragging our feet.  Jet lag is rough.

The kids thought that these "long potatoes" were pretty funny.

Sam's favorite thing was the swords.  He was pretty bummed that we couldn't make our own and take them home, but these were neat.

These stripes in the sidewalks and roads are for people with disabilities to know where to walk.

This one was Ada's gem.  We had lots of cameras going most of the day.  It was hard to pare down 9000 pictures into a few hundred.

We did some shopping on the way back to our airbnb.  Sam didn't make it home without a little nap.

Ada took a picture of me taking this picture.  I loved this cute old man.

I took this picture then Seth came back to me and showed me how cute the cat was in this painting.

These were for sharpening the samurai swords.  I recommend looking up how they stand while they're doing it.

Juxtaposition

These giant scroll paintings were so amazing.  I loved all the details and especially all the faces of the soldiers.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
