Bear Lake June 2021

There are some places that even the weather can't keep you down.  We went camping this week to Bear Lake.  It rained every day except Saturday, but we were just glad to be there at all.  The first day it rained, the corner of our tent collapsed and poured water into our tent.  3 out of the 5 of us didn't have dry bedding and I had not dry clothes, so I went and rented a hotel room for the night.  It was nice to have a soft and warm bed, but I don't like being that far from all the family that I wanted to be spending time with.  I got to visit with Liz, Rachel, Joe and Tiff's families as well as my parents, Janelle, Sharon and Seth. We saw McKay's family for a minute before we left and got to see Mark and Carol, as well as Sonny and Darlene.

I had no desire to swim at all this time.  Usually I'll get in at least once... this time I just wanted to sit and talk.  It made me happy to see Ada and Seth hanging out with Tiff though.

Miss Rae of Sunshine.  Ada took this... being all artsy.

One last

One last photo to share.  The unicorns were little tiny new ballerinas.  I had to take a picture but my camera wouldn't focus because I was laughing too hard.  One of the unicorns just decided to be done half way through.  Highlight of the night.

After photos

Ada wanted to take artsy photo of Evelyn after the show.  It was already dark, but I showed her how to work around it a little bit without the flash.  I was very proud of her.  I hadn't thought of anything more than just get dinner and get home, but it was an opportunity for some fun pictures.  I did a few and I gave Ada the camera to do a few.  If nothing else, it was something fun for the three of us.

And these two were her last photos.  I went to get the car and left them with the camera.

Evelyn's first ballet

Evelyn has been dancing for about 3 years now, but this weekend was her first ballet.  She had a part in The Labyrinth.  She played a Blue Pixie and a Rainbow Gnome.  She's come so far in a short while. She finished with a lot of excitement to keep dancing.

Dancing?

Evelyn as a Blue Fairy.  Can I be perfectly honest.  I don't do hair at all.  The people at the dress rehearsals kept sending Evelyn back with a list of requirements for me to follow that I had done wrong the time before.  I got mad.  If they wanted me to do it, then they should accept what I had to offer or do it themselves.  We finally got an acceptable ballet hair bun with the right hair nets and the right amount of hairspray (to make it look newly wet but not dirty).  I had to apologize to Evelyn for getting mad the third time she came back and said that something was wrong with her hair....

Ada "showing" me her mad dancing skills.

Here she's dressed as a rainbow gnome.  This is the one part of the ballet that was hardest for her.  She was supposed to do a cartwheel in time with the person in front of her.  One of the performances she was able to do it.  The other two, not so much.  She said this costume was itchy and hard to take off.  I volunteered backstage for the last show and she was right.  Half of the gnomes had a 45 second costume change and me and another volunteer had to help the girls get these things off so that they could put the other other.... it wasn't easy but the girls handled it like pros.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
