This week

Today a friend was buried.  When I was small, my parents hosted a family of 6 from Vietnam in our home.  Lan, the 16 year old, played on the tramp with us a lot.  I remember the happy talking women in the kitchen.  Dhoa loved me and I loved her back.  We were baptized on the same day.  We took them to Sundance to experience snow for the first time. They cooked duck for us to experience for the first time. Their Dad died at the age of 84.  I was really sad not to be able to take off work to go to the funeral and hug them all, but I'm so glad to go over memories of good times with good people.

These two have figured out that they can actually climb into the piano.  Half of me cringes and half of me giggles.

Spring is here along with sidewalk chalk and bubbles.

Is she comfortable or not?  I'm not sure.

Ada and I released lady bugs into our garden.  It was a little underwhelming this time... A lot of the lady bugs were very lethargic.

I'm having a surgery and won't be able to eat very much for a few months... so we went to my favorite restaurant for one last hoorah.

Ada made me these for Mother's Day.  Aren't they beautiful.

Our bush is bursting with flowers this year.  One or two bald spots where the kids climb through the bush but oh my goodness.

Fall catch up

Fall is starting to get back to normal.  Some modifications, but some "normality".  We went to our first symphony.  There's a new conductor, but it was fun to be with Jim, Jer and Ada. It was Jer's favorite symphony, so that was a good one to come back on.

The soccer season ended too.  Ada's last game was different.  The opposing team players didn't show up so they played the parents.  Jer was coaching Seth's team on the other side of the park, so I went and switched places with him so that he could come play with Ada.  It was so cute.

Seth's team.

Just a couple weeks ago, we went to Hna Ramona's funeral.  I played the piano and gave a quick memory of her.  Frederico's brother in law played the cello with me and that was neat. I'm sad for Cristina, but I'm glad it's over for Ramona. My family was so patient.  They sat through an hour and a half in spanish.  So patient!

Backyard leaves

Good grade donuts!

Seth's friend, Jack, had a minecraft bday party.  There were only three kids there so I was okay with Seth going.  I helped make the eggs that they used too.  They were egg shells filled with confetti and pictures of things that can come out of the eggs in minecraft.  It was a fun activity.

Eating water blocks.

For YW's, they found a giant twister board. It was so fun.  I only made it about 5 or 6 steps into it, but Ada made it about half way through.

I had a new girl start in my daycare.  She LOVES Jeremy.  Every time he walks through, she wants a big hug.  Awwww.... look at my cute husband!

This was my life the last two weeks.

Jane Evelyn Hanford Robertson

I found this post in my drafts!  Maybe I had more to write and never finished, but it would be sad to never have these memories on my blog, so late, but here they are.

It was really hard to say goodbye to our last Great Grandparent.  We were pretty lucky that our kids got to know a lot of their Greats.... but it's hard to say goodbye. We've loved this spunky lady, her stories, her obvious love for Jer and the kids, her songs (a lot of which my Ellis grandparents sang with me), her poems, and her Christmas traditions (The Night Before Christmas mad lib style).

Ada's memories of Ggma:
She was really fun and funny.  She likes to tell jokes. She told me the "Do exactly what I do...1 Jimmy, 2 Jimmy, (whoops)" joke.  She was a really good cuddle bug.  She loves telling really good stories. She was an unusual mom.

Going along with that memory... Grandpa and his brothers decided that it was hot enough outside to cook pancakes on the sidewalk.  Ggma came home to a mess on the sidewalk and kitchen and told them.... "How bout we make some real pancakes.  You clean up and I'll go cook."

Sam's memories of Ggma:
At Great Grandpa's funeral, Sam was really sad and sitting by the coffin.  Ggma was sitting in her walker and saw him.  She pulled him right over into a big bear hug and told him it was okay to be sad and that she loved him.

Going along with that memory, at the cemetery I was getting after Sam for jumping on headstones.  Ggma got after me and said, "Don't get mad at him, he's a good boy."

Our week

I like to put pictures with my posts, but not this week.  This week was super fun and very busy too.  Mother's Day was great.  Ada brought me a rose that she bought at school.  Ada also made me breakfast.  Jer made an amazing dinner, and my favorite.... all the kids sang in the Primary program... except for Ada.  She was sick.  They did such a good job and when I asked Ada if she'd sing to me when she got better she said, "Well, I don't know the words to that one anyways."  Funny girl.

We had Emma and her husband Stephen over for dinner Tuesday.  That was so fun.  We caught up and played a game.  I'm looking forward to seeing her a little bit more now that they're close.

We had our last soccer games for the season.  Ada was super sick, but didn't really tell us how sick until after the game.  Ada got kicked in the ankle and had to come out for a bit, then she told her coach she was ready to play and she immediately made a goal.  That was a good end to the season for her I think.

My cousin, Amber, got married and had her reception this week.  It was so nice to go.  I saw my Dad's cousin, Randy Rawlins and his wife... I also got to visit with my Uncles Wayne, Chris and Aunt Cheryl.  I saw Elliot, Mitch, Taylor, Kim, Wendee, David, Whitney and I loved it.  I got to meet Whitney's baby for the first time and she's beautiful.  And I got to see Eowyn and her husband.  That was so exciting.  We're planning on an art exhibit outing this summer.

I hosted a craft/play group at our house.  My current 4 closest neighborhood friends came.  One is getting ready to move and two were pretty distracted about upcoming events, so it was pretty funny to see not too much interaction going on.  We did have a discussion on the second coming that was very interesting.  My one friend is married to a Jewish convert and had a lot of interesting input.

Thursday morning, I was pretty sure that Ada had a sinus infection instead of a cold.  I sent her to school with Tylenol in her to help. Then I called to get an appointment with the doctor for after school. She called me three hours later and said that she was covered in red spots and her hands and feet were swollen.  She was having an allergic reaction to the Tylenol and didn't bother calling me until after her reading group because she didn't want to miss it.  I went and picked her up and called the doctor for an earlier appointment.  Poor girl.... it's 3 days later and she's still having minor allergy symptoms.  I guess she's one of the 3% that react to it that way.

Friday was my friend's funeral.  When Jer and I got married, I worked at QuicKutz as the clean room lead.  The night shift supervisor was the dad of one of my high school friends.  I knew Tiff quite well and got to know Jared and Jonathan through school and Stake Youth activities.  The Dad, Gil, introduced me to his daughter Heather, who I then hired to work with me.  She was a good friend too.  I liked Gil.  We had daily status meetings and we'd chat when work was slow.  He told me all about his time in the Army and especially about the time he spent on the Korean military bases.  He told me about meeting his wife (who is the sweetest lady ever).  He told me about his conversion and about all the jobs that he'd tried that weren't quite right for him.  He tried being a trucker, but he said he had too many accidents.  He went back to school after the Army and got his Bachelors and his Masters in business management.  He was very proud that he accomplished that goal!  He didn't like the student loans though.  He gave me advice on the guys I was dating and was always willing to share his testimony with me.  At his funeral, I learned that he had two more kids that I hadn't met and had served as Bishop and other leadership roles that he'd never told me about.  He had a stroke about 8 years ago.  He thought it was a little one, but it brought on early onset dementia. It got bad enough that his family couldn't take care of  him at home... eventually his inability to care for himself led to his death.  One thing that I learned from my friend was that no matter what your circumstances in life, family and faith are the things that matter.

Friday we went over to Jer's parent's house to help them lay some sod.  We got there too late to help with the laying, so we trimmed edges, picked up leftovers and sticks, etc... Jer went back on Saturday morning to help out more.

We had been planning on driving out to Mary's house this weekend to celebrate Joseph graduating high school and getting his Eagle.  Unfortunately, they had a nasty cough going around and where we're planning a long hiking/camping trip with Jer's Dad in the next couple weeks, we didn't want to share.  But YAY Joseph!  We love you and are very proud of you!

Saturday and Sunday were our Ward Conference.  We were taught about Family History work, Temples and giving our wills over to the Lord.  My favorite thing said was, "Our will is the only thing that truly and surly belongs to us.  Our greatest sacrifice is giving our will entirely over to the Lord."

Sunday, we picked up a neighbors garbage can that our dog got into.... then we went to take brownies and a gift to Sam's good friend Deacon.  Their family is moving to Mexico for a couple of years.  Sweet hearted Sam is pretty sad.  He gave him a copy of The Indian in the Cupboard with his address in the cover so that they can be pen pals.  Then we came home and watched CoCo.  The kids had seen it, but I rather enjoyed it.

Funeral luncheon

Bruce and Jacob

At the luncheon, Jim put together the songs that they remembered Ggma always singing.  She loved singing and playing her ukulele.

Jim and Judy with Marilyn.  Marilyn has been a good friend for Judy right now.  I'm so grateful that Ggma's support system also has had an amazing support system.

These four nuts were cute.  Samuel B. asked Evelyn if she would play with him after we went back to Grandma's house.

Each of the girls chose out one of Ggma's necklaces or earrings.  I did that with my Grandma Wilcox's jewelry.  I love that my girls got to too.

We took a minute and took a sibling picture

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
