Mother's Day and Misc

getting ready to graduate!

My family (especially Ada) put together a wonderful Mother's Day for me.  I loved every minute.  I played the piano for the Primary's Mother's day song, took a nap, ate a yummy and well thought out dinner by Jer, found out that Seth is also allergic to snap peas, played games, went on a walk, watched a movie.  It was a great day.

They made a pathway for me to my seat at dinner.

Ada played the prelude at church on Mother's day too!  She did great.  She came down all embarrassed, but there was nothing to be embarrassed for.... she did amazingly well.  Seth passed the sacrament and Evelyn was an usher.  What marvelous kids!

Ada made a Walmart run and found new sugar free snacks to try.

I took Seth for a quick date on the way home from his soccer game.

Sam's Priests group had all the moms come and we had "ice cream" and talked about fun things.  It was so funny.  Sam brought me the order sheet for the ice cream with a laugh in his eyes... both he and I are allergic to ice cream.  So I ordered strawberries and he had oreos and gummy bears.  He's a cutie patootie.

Seth drew this cat at school!  He's a great artist!  He has a good handle on proportions and perspective.

sushi date with my MTECH graduate and two of her friends.

This week

Seth lost his last baby tooth!  My baby has no more baby teeth!

Seth received the Noble Knight (Student of the week) award.

Jer and Ada were sick, I was subbing on the organ, and these three kept giving me cute smiles.

They found an apartment!  Good work momma!

Mia took my picture.

Seth took the test to do the ALL (Advanced learning) program next year.  Then we went straight to the soccer field for his game.  He told me, "Mom!  I'm so tired!"

We went over and cut Grandma and Grandpa's lawn.  It's always fun to drive the lawn mower.  It's very calming even.  Ada got to try for the first time.

Sam's soccer game this morning.

End of spring

Copy and paste cats napping on my bed.

Jer's work group went on a SLC temple tour.  They used the employees as the pilots program for the new temple square tours.

Ada and Jer have been taking steroids.  They've both been pretty sick but the doctors have said that they can't pinpoint what it is.  Ada got to be an adult and fill out her own paperwork.

Showing Chris how to play a violin.

Evelyn's poor fish "Mayo" didn't make it through the week.  Between trying to keep the water cleaner and an autistic 10 year old grabbing it out of the water for who knows how long.... Evelyn tried everything she and her "vet" friend could think of.  They gave him medicine daily, Triple cleaned the tank... They were able to baby him along for about a week.  It looked like he was getting better until yesterday and this morning he wasn't moving at all.  Evelyn handled it with grace and patience.  She might have been angry internally, but she didn't take it out on the kid and still treats him kindly. I'm proud of her.

Elder's Quorum activity

Our Elder's Quorum borrowed the Wheelhouse's track and hosted a pinewood derby.  It was so fun.  Jer, Sam and Seth spent all week making new cars. And we pulled out our old cars to race as well.  Seth's Batmobile won "most realistic". Jer's was "most aerodynamic" and Ada's won "most creative".

Evelyn and I ditched out of the race early to go practice our organ piece for our Easter program.  Anna had her flute in the car, so we played a few songs together and taught her the basics of the organ.  Evelyn had so much fun learning about the stops, pedals and registrations.  It was fun to have her sitting by me during the meeting.

Seth's Ordination

Seth was ordained a Deacon on Sunday.  This cute boy is both excited and nervous about growing up.  I think he's got this and will be an amazing contribution to humankind.  He's a sweet and happy boy.  I love to be with him. He is very capable in many ways even when he's hesitant to be adventurous on his own.  I think as he grows, he will find his boldness. He was teary as his grandpas, dad and brother joined Bro Yancey to give him the Priesthood and urged him to serve those around him.  He's my sweet teddy bear hearted boy. Then he went to get his temple recommend appointment done.  He's ready for our first temple appointment in about a week or so.

Misc Christmas

Seth gave his first ever talk in Sacrament meeting.  He was very against it, did it anyways and passed with flying colors.  He spoke confidently and smiled at Evelyn and I the whole time.  In the same meeting, Ada, Sam and Evelyn sang with the youth.  Jeremy, Ada, Sam and I sang with the ward choir.  It was a fun Christmas program.

Ada hosted a Christmas party at our house.  It was mostly so that her friend Martha could do some American Christmas things.  It's fun. Ada even made homemade gingerbread to make gingerbread houses.  It was yummy.

Seth made a candy house at school.

Seth competed in the whole school spelling bee.  He got 9th place!  How cool is that!  The funny part is that the word that he got out on was Khaki.  Seth spelled it with a C instead of a K. When he got home and we were talking about it, Sam, my 16 year old that's taking AP Language tried spelling it.  He also missed it and spelled it with a y instead of an i. It's not exactly a word that commonly used now.

Our new family tradition is doing an at home Messiah Sing in.  We invite whoever wants to sing and we have so much fun.

The cats are so excited about the Christmas tree being back.

Ward Christmas party

Seth sang with the Primary.... and our family sang Oh Come oh Come Immanuel together.  They really sound so beautiful together.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
