Remembering Journey Rose

My Mom's cousin, Melanie, invited us to celebrate the life of their daughter, Journey.  She's been fighting cancer for several years and passed away a couple months ago. We love our cousins and my kids played with Journey when they were tiny. It was good to see our Ellis/Wilson cousins again. I really only see them on facebook now.

Panda Express because it was Journey's favorite.

Eli, Sam and Seth hung out together for a bit.

Dahlia show

My sister, Janelle, has a pass to Thanksgiving Point and invited me to join her and my parents to the Dahlia Days.  They were so pretty and it was so fun to be with them.

This last week

This last week, since I was working, I had a friend that wanted to sit in on one of my Uncle Brad's classes with me.  I showed up and they didn't.... but I loved the class. I didn't know it was a Book of Mormon class and the lesson just coincided on the Book of Mormon chapters that I had been reading this week for a YW's challenge.  He also talked about being a mission president and getting his mortgage covered.  I giggled a little because I was renting a room in his house to help cover his mortgage.

We got to go the New World Symphony with Joseph Tarkington, Grandpa and Grandma, Amy and Jon.  It was fun.  I was impressed with it.  It was the best live version that I've been to.

Sunday, we took a bike ride almost down to the lake.  There was some construction so we only made it 8 miles or so.  It was fun.

I helped at the school with the vision screenings.  We finished just before Seth's lunch time, so I got to sit with him and watch him chatting with his friends.

Sam has been ref for a couple of games lately.  I'm impressed with his growing confidence.  He had to tell one of the coaches that he was out of line and to cool down.

This was my, "come clean up your crap" pile.  I told the kids to come put away their stuff and I thought it was so funny.... books, head phones and a sword.

Evelyn got to take her friend, Rose, to ballet with her.

Our tree actually produced pears!

Seth's soccer game.

Sam's soccer game.

Sam the ref.

last week

The Clingers asked us over to watch Sky High with them.  It was fun and we had Hero sandwiches for dinner.

Then we helped my parents get their fruit trees ready for winter.

Jer built a laptop charging station.  I'm half impressed and half annoyed.  I didn't want all the kids to have their own laptops, but the school insisted on it.  So they come home and unless they're doing homework, they are docked here.

Dad and Seth watching Bolt.

My Nellie had her birthday!  We were happy to spend the evening with her.

Dragonfly found me at Seth's soccer game last week.

Evelyn is my cute little baker.

Labor Day weekend

We took Saturday off and went to the Minerva Tiechart art exhibit at the Church History Museum.  I didn't realize that she'd painted over 1000 paintings throughout her life.  Look up her blurb on Wikipedia.  It's fascinating.

I especially loved her mom with babies in one of her early paintings.

They had a drawing corner to draw like Minerva Tiechart.  This was my chicken. The other one is Ada's cow.  She's not to happy with it, but I think it's cute. Evelyn made a chicken too, but she took it with her and I didn't get to take a picture.

Current Salt Lake Temple progress.

Then instead of dinner, we all got cheesecake from the cheesecake Factory.  We'd never been there before.  It was really good.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
