Mother's Day

I spent the morning sleeping.  Joe T had spent the night and the "kids" all played games, jumped on the trampoline... Joe got many compliments from our ward members on his voice. The Primary did a great job singing More Than Enough. Then I spent the afternoon drawing with Ada while Dad made dinner and the kids did the dishes. Then we played Firefly.  Three of us were ready to win.... Sam ultimately did.

I loved how she kept putting her head into the bag.

Ada did a portrait of Joe.

I did a portrait of Ada. I haven't drawn people in 20 years.  It went pretty well but I am rusty.

Love

Seth got to play goalie for the first time.  He was all over the place and played well.  I loved that he was on top of it.

The Northern lights were visible for 3 days from Utah. Mostly we could see lighter skies and with long exposures people could see really pretty patterns and colors. This was from my patio at 12:30 am. It looked like the sun was coming up.

Ada finished her AP European History test.  She spent a lot of time and attention. I'm proud of her.

cats

It was raining and she ran inside looking to stay warm.

I was drawing outside and they came to make sure my tools are up to snuff.

Evil genius with his minion cat.

Helping Ada plant her garden

Ada put out a shoe box to see what they would do.  It was cat approved.

Seth's end of 4th grade

Seth made a board game based on the book Holes with his reading group. He got to bring it home because he won rock, paper, scissors.

Seth was the Rich county sign in the Utah Program. It was appropriate because he loved the counties unit this year.  He memorized all of them and could recite them all under 30 seconds.

They also did a Medieval Feast. He was a lord.  He has a whole Knight costume, but he was supposed to be dressed as a lord.  We used one of my shirts and Seth especially loved the jousting. They had little horses on wheels and Seth was in love.

Art show

Ada's teacher, Agla, texted me and told me that she had two pieces of art in the end of year art show. They are both very fun pieces.  I love her dreamscape with the crayon house.  I think it's original and quirky.
Ada stayed with me to take a look at the show.  I love doing art stuff with Ada.  She understands what goes into making art and appreciates other's work.

Evelyn's birthday

When our kids turn 12, we throw them a big party.  After that, they are in charge of inviting and planning any birthday parties.  We just provided donuts, Evelyn invited some friends and they walked to the park and watched a movie.  I'm glad she has good friends.

Dinosaur museum

As part of the Tulip festival, we were given two free tickets to Thanksgiving Point.  Nellie gave them to us and Ada took Seth to the Dinosaur Museum while I was still working.  They are so cute together aren't they?! I think they had fun.

Backpacking trip

Jer took Ada and Sam on their second ever backpacking trip. This one was a bigger one.  They did about 19ish miles between there and back and exploring. They said it was beautiful.

Orchestra concert

This sweet girl is no longer going to be a 7th grader. That's so hard on my brain but I'm proud of the girl she's becoming.

Band Concert

Thursday had a lot going on.... Soccer practice, ballet, therapy, YW's BBQ, band concert, an orchestra concert and the start of a backpacking trip to Coyote Gulch all within three hours. Ada helped drop Sam off for his call time while I finished up daycare. Jer dropped off Seth and Evelyn.... Then the madness began. Sam had two solos in the Jazz band. I went to that while Jer picked up stragglers.  They all joined us for the Symphonic band part.  Sam performed well and said goodbye to Jr High band. Evelyn began her orchestra concert and we said toodaloo to Sam, Ada and Jeremy for their backpacking trip. The rest of the orchestra concert lasted until 9:15.  Evelyn did great. It was hard to see her from where I was sitting, but I could see that her bowing was great and she was smiley when I could see her. She's excited to continue learning more about the violin.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
