Hawaii Friday #2

Our second stop was Twin Falls.  We'd heard all sorts of really fun things about swimming in the pools at the falls.  We got there and there was so much rushing water from the weeks of rain before hand that it was dangerous to swim in it.  Instead we just enjoyed hiking around the area.  Ada took tons of pictures.  Sam didn't listen to instructions and got lost for about 5-10 minutes.  We all found each other, but it wasn't without lots of anxiety on Sam's part.  He is a super anxiety ridden kid.  I do want to teach him that he will be okay and that anxious feelings shouldn't keep us from acting and moving forward. The rocks at the falls looked 100% painted for a movie set and the plants were so neat.

These top three pictures are all Ada.

These pictures were all mine.  This bottom one shows just how fast the water was running and how muddy it was from the flash flooding the week before.

These were all Ada's photos again.  She really is getting good.

I LOVED and was a little nervous about the sound of the bamboo groves in the wind.  I've seen bamboo from a distance but never been in them before.  You'd be walking along and hear these really loud cracks above your head.  The wind would knock them together and they would echo really loudly.  It made me a little nervous that something was breaking, but I kept an eye on it the first couple of times and it was just the wind.  After that, it was just a really cool novelty.

Hawaii Friday #1

Friday we woke up nice and early to drive to the more jungle side of the island that had a zipline that Seth could go on.  Most of the ziplines that we had looked at wouldn't allow under the age of 7.  The one that Dad, Ada and Sam were going to do originally wouldn't allow Sam because he's a couple months away from being 12.  Dad challenged Sam to find one that he would like.  He did all the research and found one for everyone and that had dinosaur statues hidden all through the 8 line course as well.  Seth LOVED the dinosaurs and that he got to zipline as well.  I think that ziplining ended up being Seth's favorite activity and I love Sam's act of love finding one that everyone could do.

Seth wrote his name up on the wall a couple of times, and when we were done with the course he came back and drew a picture of himself with his helmet on going ziplining. I did the walk along.  A lot of the fun activities are not good for someone going through physical therapy.  I walked from course to course and took pictures of the zipliners.

It had been raining all week the couple of weeks before we came, so there was a lot of mud.  It brought back memories of my mission.

One of the dinosaurs.  They also had chickens and ducks.  (Chickens are EVERYWHERE! and Noone owns them... they just wander all over the island.)

Our adventure girl.  Ada is always up for a new adventure.  She always has been and I hope will be for a long time.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
