We got to be on the 100% totality point. The sun was covered for 2 mins and 20 seconds. It was surreal. It got darker and darker, the shadow snakes were AMAZING, we checked on the sun every now and then, read Harry Potter, ate chips, played in the dirt, avoided stepping on cactuses, etc...
My favorite moment was when it was right before totality, Jer had an app on his phone that would tell us what was going to happen next. His phone announced that we needed to pay attention to animal reactions at this point... just as Sam was bouncing around the sheet on the ground yell how excited he was. Jer just turned to me and said, "Yep, unusual."
When the moon was completely over the sun it was cold, dark, beautiful and amazing. I loved listening to Jer just giggle while we watched.
