Sir Isaac Newton

Sam researched, wrote and memorized a spiel about Sir Isaac Newton.  I learned a ton and I very much suspect that he was autistic. Sam was super cute.

Week catch up

This week, we dealt with a sick Ada.  She had a sinus infection.  She's doing so well now.  I'm glad that's gone.

We pulled out Jer's pioneer clothes that his Mom made when they did the pioneer reenactment.  We were trying to put together a costume for Sam's school project.  They were doing a wax museum and Sam was assigned Sir Isaac Newton.

Our week

I like to put pictures with my posts, but not this week.  This week was super fun and very busy too.  Mother's Day was great.  Ada brought me a rose that she bought at school.  Ada also made me breakfast.  Jer made an amazing dinner, and my favorite.... all the kids sang in the Primary program... except for Ada.  She was sick.  They did such a good job and when I asked Ada if she'd sing to me when she got better she said, "Well, I don't know the words to that one anyways."  Funny girl.

We had Emma and her husband Stephen over for dinner Tuesday.  That was so fun.  We caught up and played a game.  I'm looking forward to seeing her a little bit more now that they're close.

We had our last soccer games for the season.  Ada was super sick, but didn't really tell us how sick until after the game.  Ada got kicked in the ankle and had to come out for a bit, then she told her coach she was ready to play and she immediately made a goal.  That was a good end to the season for her I think.

My cousin, Amber, got married and had her reception this week.  It was so nice to go.  I saw my Dad's cousin, Randy Rawlins and his wife... I also got to visit with my Uncles Wayne, Chris and Aunt Cheryl.  I saw Elliot, Mitch, Taylor, Kim, Wendee, David, Whitney and I loved it.  I got to meet Whitney's baby for the first time and she's beautiful.  And I got to see Eowyn and her husband.  That was so exciting.  We're planning on an art exhibit outing this summer.

I hosted a craft/play group at our house.  My current 4 closest neighborhood friends came.  One is getting ready to move and two were pretty distracted about upcoming events, so it was pretty funny to see not too much interaction going on.  We did have a discussion on the second coming that was very interesting.  My one friend is married to a Jewish convert and had a lot of interesting input.

Thursday morning, I was pretty sure that Ada had a sinus infection instead of a cold.  I sent her to school with Tylenol in her to help. Then I called to get an appointment with the doctor for after school. She called me three hours later and said that she was covered in red spots and her hands and feet were swollen.  She was having an allergic reaction to the Tylenol and didn't bother calling me until after her reading group because she didn't want to miss it.  I went and picked her up and called the doctor for an earlier appointment.  Poor girl.... it's 3 days later and she's still having minor allergy symptoms.  I guess she's one of the 3% that react to it that way.

Friday was my friend's funeral.  When Jer and I got married, I worked at QuicKutz as the clean room lead.  The night shift supervisor was the dad of one of my high school friends.  I knew Tiff quite well and got to know Jared and Jonathan through school and Stake Youth activities.  The Dad, Gil, introduced me to his daughter Heather, who I then hired to work with me.  She was a good friend too.  I liked Gil.  We had daily status meetings and we'd chat when work was slow.  He told me all about his time in the Army and especially about the time he spent on the Korean military bases.  He told me about meeting his wife (who is the sweetest lady ever).  He told me about his conversion and about all the jobs that he'd tried that weren't quite right for him.  He tried being a trucker, but he said he had too many accidents.  He went back to school after the Army and got his Bachelors and his Masters in business management.  He was very proud that he accomplished that goal!  He didn't like the student loans though.  He gave me advice on the guys I was dating and was always willing to share his testimony with me.  At his funeral, I learned that he had two more kids that I hadn't met and had served as Bishop and other leadership roles that he'd never told me about.  He had a stroke about 8 years ago.  He thought it was a little one, but it brought on early onset dementia. It got bad enough that his family couldn't take care of  him at home... eventually his inability to care for himself led to his death.  One thing that I learned from my friend was that no matter what your circumstances in life, family and faith are the things that matter.

Friday we went over to Jer's parent's house to help them lay some sod.  We got there too late to help with the laying, so we trimmed edges, picked up leftovers and sticks, etc... Jer went back on Saturday morning to help out more.

We had been planning on driving out to Mary's house this weekend to celebrate Joseph graduating high school and getting his Eagle.  Unfortunately, they had a nasty cough going around and where we're planning a long hiking/camping trip with Jer's Dad in the next couple weeks, we didn't want to share.  But YAY Joseph!  We love you and are very proud of you!

Saturday and Sunday were our Ward Conference.  We were taught about Family History work, Temples and giving our wills over to the Lord.  My favorite thing said was, "Our will is the only thing that truly and surly belongs to us.  Our greatest sacrifice is giving our will entirely over to the Lord."

Sunday, we picked up a neighbors garbage can that our dog got into.... then we went to take brownies and a gift to Sam's good friend Deacon.  Their family is moving to Mexico for a couple of years.  Sweet hearted Sam is pretty sad.  He gave him a copy of The Indian in the Cupboard with his address in the cover so that they can be pen pals.  Then we came home and watched CoCo.  The kids had seen it, but I rather enjoyed it.

This is the Place

Yesterday was National Train Day and This is the Place State Park celebrated by doing a Golden Spike reenactment. Seth is my train kid, so I took him up to see it.  He LOVED the model trains and riding both the sizes of trains through the park.  He also loved riding the horses.  It threatened to rain on us, but luckily we were alright.  It gave me a chance to walk some hills.... I've been walking okay, but up and down hill still makes me pretty sore.  Seth was a little nervous of the animals.  He liked them as long as he didn't have to touch them.

tulip festival

I loved this.  They had folded and hung paper cranes in the trees.  I started folding paper cranes after one of our exchange students gave me some small origami paper as a gift.  My goal is to get 1000 and hang them in my sewing room.  I've been folding them while I talk to friends at playgroup, during movies with my family and waiting in offices for appointments.  I'm up to 850 now.  I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out.  Honestly I like the all white ones here better, but I think the color paper he gave me is fun too.

Secret Garden

Tulips

Look at the difference that 4 weeks makes.... These tulips are just stunning... and the man's not bad ;).  I didn't edit any of these.... but the ones of the kids are cute.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
