So I don't know if anybody read about when Ada and her friend Lizzy hijacked the graham cracker box... but we had those same friends over tonight to play games... so Ada and Lizzy were playing again. When we finished our game... we all looked over and saw that they had completely emptied four boxes of Capri Suns onto the floor and had detached all of the straws from the pouches... luckily they hadn't tried stepping on any of them or anything... but we just had to get a picture... it was too funny.

Cutest Cousins
We're watching our neice Grace for a couple of hours, and she is so cute! I love the way that she and Ada smile at each other and laugh. I had Grace in the high chair, and she had some finger foods that she was munching... When she saw Ada, she held one out for her... Ada sure was trying to getting from her and was giggling the whole time. They finally both gave up and Grace literally gave a little shrug and kept eating.
Girly girl
I think Ada's turning girly on me... I went to get her dressed the other day and when I opened her closet she saw the dresses and said "Pretty!" So I picked one out and got her dressed in it... later when she saw herself in the mirror she giggled and said, "Pretty!"

Where's the baby?
Since I got pregnant, I've started talking to Ada about babies. I even tried to get her to pat my belly and say baby. She never did do it, but the other day, my sister was playing with her and asked her where the baby was and Ada patted her own stomach... it was the cutest thing ever!

Oh, by the way...
I'm pregnant! Due in early June! And that's great news because it means that Jer doesn't have to have another surgery for a while!
The Terrible twos at one year old...
So I think that on her birthday Ada thought that she was turning two instead of one. She has been grumpy and whinny for no apparent reason. She doesn't look like she has any new teeth coming in... and it's almost like she's decided to be grumpy on purpose. For example... we have 20 some odd cabinets in our house that are unlocked and that she is free to empty and play in to her hearts content... but what does she choose to do? Try to pull open the 2 that I keep locked for her safety and scream that she can't get them open. And where she has never been a picky eater... she is now very choosy in what she will eat and in what order she will eat them... "I know I like green beans... but I won't eat them until you give me peas first, then the beans are okay..." All my friends say that this stage passed for their kids within a week if they just ignored the tantrums and gave them time outs for the inappropriate behavior... I sure hope so because I miss my Ada.

Multiply and replenish the Earth
We went to watch my cousin get sealed on Friday. The Sealer was talking about multiplying and replenishing the earth. Jer leaned over to me and whispered... I don't know about the multiplying, but we've done the division... there's one of her and two of us.
Walking!
Ada has been at that point where she stands by herself for a long time, but she's been too afraid to walk. Today during conference we were watching it with my brother's family. She watched her cousin Aubrey walking around and by the end of the night she was taking 4 or 5 steps at a time! It was so fun to watch her face as she got so excited while she moved all on her own! Love it!

Vocabulary
Ada's vocabulary is just exploding! I love to hear her babble and experiment with words and it's even greater when she gets them extremely wrong. She says Daddy, Mama, Dog, Ball, Baby as well as several animal sounds. One that she did today... she was sitting in the doorway playing with our dog on the back porch, besides offering the dog her binky she tried saying doggy instead of just dog... it came out as "pug-dy", and she kept saying over and over so proud of herself... until I pulled out the video camera, then she wouldn't say it anymore. Go figure.

In-Style
Ada's hair is "in-style". She never lost her long newborn hair like some babies do, but it has gotten longer and thicker... so what used to be the cute - fluffy - look is now the Emo-doo. It's really long in front of her eyes and she keeps getting food stuck in it when she feeds herself. I try to clip it to the side, but as soon as I put the clip in she shakes her head side to side and giggles... which means that I'm putting the clip in again about a minute later... oh well. I guess she just won't be a girlie girl. And I guess I should be cutting her bangs soon... maybe I'll do it while she's sleeping so that she stays still!

Clean floors... no longer
Ada has always been a good eater... she'll eat anything that you put in front of her with gusto and usually asks for more... in fact, we weaned her from a bottle without any fuss. But she had the flu last week and has been picky ever since... she throws most of her food on the floor and sorts her food into the piles of "will eat" and "won't eat". I don't mind a little pickiness... but what do you do about throwing food on the floor? She always manages to do it with the worst things right after I've mopped too. Jam, green beans, spaghetti, etc... I guess we'll keep working on this newest challenge.

This is such a fun family. They're sweet and playful. It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain! It was...
