Start of school

I knew this was coming, but we are officially out of Elementary School.  I loved ours, so it's bittersweet, but Seth is doing spectacularly in Jr High.  He's wasted no time meeting new people and learning jr high level homework skills. He's met a friend, Jace, that is in 6 of his 8 classes that turns out to be in our stake.  That was a fun connection. He's made it into the ALL english, math, science and History classes.  He also has percussion, pottery, stage craft and an exercise class.

Evelyn joined Sam in High School.  We drove up to the school and she said, "Woah, that's giant!" Sam was sweet and showed her around the school while I stood in line to pay fees.  She's not enjoying her AP Euro homework, but she loves her spanish class and has been invited to be in the special needs seminary class as one of the peer tutors. She loves orchestra and loves the school library more than anything else.

My senior is stepping up in a big way.  He's taken over a lot of the after school shuttling for Evelyn and Seth.  He's taking the ACT again in a week to see if he can get a couple points higher.  He's taking Japanese, baking, cooking, AP music, music composition, Jazz band, Wind symphony, Seminary and an online Biology class at the college. He can't quite believe that it's his last year, but I'm proud of the man he's becoming and I'm cherishing every flute practice, every "Hey mom", every hug and knowing that he's going to be a man soon.

Brickslopes

We haven't been able to go to this event for a while, so I was glad to be able to do it all together.  Sam and I definitely spent too much money, but it was fun.  They will all be birthday and Christmas presents so it worked out.  We bought Evelyn a lego set for $175 that online was going for $300. We bought one set that isn't available online anymore.  And one for $50 that was going for $70 online.

This one was a pretty cool and comprehensive Harry Potter set up.

Someone did a Bridge run from Brandon Sanderson's books.... including Lupen as the armless waterboy.

One guy made weights.  Ada said they were very light, but they were fun.

The Les Mes one was the most artistic one that I saw.

The funnest exhibit was a giant lego castle made out of ginormous lego bricks.

This was a moment that my heart was very happy.  Seeing my little family happily holding hands and having fun.

New soccer season

We started a new season.  Both our boys are playing again this year.   Seth is mostly playing defense.  He seems like he's the oldest of his group and doesn't know anyone one his team, but he just jumps in and plays anyways.  I enjoy driving to his games with him and chatting about books and random things. Ada surprised him and came to last weeks' game with me.  Seth was so happy to see her there.

Sam does know several people on his team, which is nice.  The play well together and I love that his games are earlier in the day.  It's nice to go before it's hot.  His last game, he got shoulder checked hard in his chest by the goalie.  It popped his glasses right off his face and they flew a few feet away.  His breath was knocked out of him, but he recovered pretty quickly. I'm so proud of him and his growth. He's endlessly kind and helps all around him.

Mia's birthday party

Mia turned 8!  She's a spitfire and is adjusting to her new life well.  Bravo girlie.

We couldn't hang the pinata that Cristina made, so Sam was the pinata stand.... He's such a sweet guy.  He's turning into a spectacular young man.

Baptism girl

This sweet girl is getting baptized.  She's such a sweet girl and I hope she has great memories of her day.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
