Musical

 

Ada and Sam did such a great job in the school play.  They both have very different styles of learning and socializing, so sometimes it was hard on them to both be in the same group without getting frustrated at each other.  But they both performed their parts well.  They both had learning experiences too.  They were both in the notes for main character call backs, but Ada told the director that she doesn't memorize lines and Sam didn't get the parent permission forms in (he filled them out but somewhere between the submission button and the actual submission didn't work).  Ada was so done by the end.  I don't know if she's going to do another one, but I think Sam will.  The only two things he didn't like were the waiting for others during practice and the makeup.  Ada loved that she was assigned to do Jafar's makeup.

Valentine's Day and misc

 

Seth and Evelyn had a dress up with who you want to be when you grow up.  Evelyn said baker. Seth said cop.

For Valentine's day we had family steak and asparagus and we showed our kids Napoleon Dynamite for the first time.  They were laughing so hard.  Especially Sam and Ada.  Jer brought the boys balloons and the girls flowers.

Evelyn, Sam, Ada, Seth and I all made Evelyn's valentine's day box.  She colored for hours.  Seth made a dinosaur egg box for a valentine's day party in his class.

My Mom is so sweet.  She made personalized sugar cookies for each of us.  I loved this as a kid.  I thought it was so cool.  My kids agree.  They loved it.

Personal Grandparent delivery. (I missed it the day after, but Grandma Robertson brought over the kids Valentine's cards for them.)

Clear Creek

So they tore down the Clear Creek cabin this year.  I went when I was a 5th grader. This was a blast from the past.

 

Evelyn acrobatic show

I am always amazed at the new skills Evelyn picks up.  She doesn't practice them at home, so we have to go in to see them.  She had an acrobatics parent show.  She can walk backwards in a back bend, go from a backbend into a front bend, do a controlled handstand (for a minute.... still working on holding it) and a split handstand (still working on straight knees). She working hard and working muscles that you don't even realize that we have.

 

This girl

This sweet girl is growing so much lately.  She's looking more and more like a teenager too. She had her parent show last week and did a great job.

She also had a 7th grade pre-registration day.  She looked around and is thinking about classes to take. This morning she took the advanced placement test. I didn't know about the test until we were already camping in Yellowstone when Ada was going into 7th.  Since then, Ada's been invited to be part of the honors math, english and history. Sam did the test and has been doing all the honors classes... both have enjoyed them.  Evelyn took the test this morning and said that she definitely doesn't want the advanced math class, but she would love the advanced science class.

 Sam was trying to say that I wasn't that old..... he ended up with, "You're as old as the rising sun!" We both paused and just laughed!  I'm not old.... I'm as old as the sun.
