Pictures from my camera from the last three weeks

My mom was teasing Seth.  Her cracking up in the background is my favorite.

The antennae on this one.

This one is nice too.

This one has an interesting texture to it.

The colors in this one too.

I love this one.  The shadow is awesome.

I love the depth the leaves added here.

And the lighting here.

Sam

Sam is 13. This guy is tenderhearted, smart and knows right from wrong.  He's always the first one to hop up and help.  He's working on building up lost muscles from his Cushing's syndrome so he's constantly sore, but he keeps moving anyways.  His favorite show is Forged in Fire.  Dad and I have both done some blacksmithing, so for his birthday we gifted him a 3 hour blacksmithing lesson where he got to make a knife. He was a little anxious but so proud of what he did.  I am too!  He did great.

We made him his favorite chocolate cake.  He tried to blow out the candles and missed.  It was pretty funny.

He also got a new flute case and some music.

Week Misc

This was a little bit of a rough week for us all around.  It was our first daycare week since summer started which means 12 daycare kids, my 4 kids and any friends that they bring over for pretty much all day.  It is easier to have 8 all day and then have my kids come home from school.  I made an average of 15 lunches every day last week not including the teenagers getting their own food.  That gets a little overwhelming to your senses.... noises constantly, always having something that needs to be addressed or discussed, lots of diapers, lots of socks and shoes everywhere...The week started off with Sam's birthday.  He's such a sweetheart and I'll do another blog post just about that. Monday and Tuesday I was training my summer helper.  Monday Sam invited some friends over to play for his birthday, then we were invited to play with the Brashers at the Roberton's house.  They had come down from Wyoming for Rose's baby blessing (which we missed because we were at Bear Lake).  Tuesday Evelyn started her intense last two weeks of practices before their ballet next week.  Jer and Sam took a blacksmithing class which I'll post about. Wed Evelyn had practice again, Sam had a bishop interview, Jer took the older two to the temple for baptisms with the Brashers, and then a visit over at Emma and Stephen's house before bed.  Wed morning, one of the girls that's not officially in my daycare but has been hanging out at my house all week got angry that I put her brother in timeout for hitting and pushing a girl off the kitchen chair.  She called her mom and I got yelled at for 4 hours over text before the mom actually came in person to talk to me.  We got everything settled.  I'm still caring for the little boy, but the daughter is not going to be coming to my house anymore. My partner and I decided that we don't mind if the mom leaves with the little boy too.  The only times I've had any parent drama in the last three years have all been with this same mom.  Thursday, I took the daycare out early because it was supposed to be in the 90s in the afternoon.  They like to hunt for bugs and dig in the dirt.  That's what they were doing when the group of kids came out of our playhouse bush holding a baby bird. One of the girls scared the momma bird off the nest while her brother stole the babies out of the nest.  Sam put them back in the nest, but the momma bird rejected them and threw them out again.  Lucy got two of them and Sam was able to rescue one. Sam and Beth (my helper) drove the baby up to the Aviary sanctuary and they took it.  Poor Sam was a wreck the rest of the day.  Ada packed herself and Hannah camping gear for Youth Conference and they left for a campsite close to Park City.  Thursday night was D&D with the Komen's and Uncle Seth too.  I was so tired that I slept right through it.  Friday, my helper called in sick but I only had 9 kids plus my 4 so that was a nice break.  The kids lost their outdoor time because of the birds and we stayed inside all day (which is easier for me anyways). I was going to still take them out, but the boy who raided the nest kept talking about it.  I think he's on the spectrum and I need to get him focused on something else before we go out again.  There were a few mix ups with Evelyn's dance photoshoots so I ended up on the phone a lot.  They gave me the wrong times for the photos, never gave me the correct papers on how to style her hair and we lost our hairspray somewhere in construction. My marvelous Mom saved the day and helped Evelyn get where she needed to go and wear the things she needed to wear.  Friday night we went to swim and play with the Brashers at the Robertson's again.  It was a good end to a hard week.
Sam hung out by me most of the week.  Kind of like my support animal.  He could tell I was stressed and kept checking on me.

Ada drew this for her friend's birthday.

I brought out some dress ups for the daycare and one of the bags had all these in it.  All illegal items for my daycare area.  It was a very quick shock for me and a quick clean up too.

Sam and the baby bird.  They think it's a dove.

Evelyn and one of her costumes for the ballet.  She's a star in the sky.  Her other costume is an antique doll. I've never been good at hair or makeup, so what do you do?  At least no one told me I did her hair wrong this time.

Bear Lake work week

We used to go up to Bear Lake Work Week as often as we could, but we haven't been for a couple of years.  Jer had races or I had toddlers.  One of the last times I took the kids as toddlers, my mom's cousin almost backed over Evelyn with his trailer.... She was about 2.  We didn't go for a couple years after that.  But since then we've gone to dig sprinkler lines and clean the cabin kitchen.  This year, they cut down all the trees on the property.  It left a lot of debris.  We weeded, picked up and burned sticks for two days straight.  Jer fixed the lawn mower and mowed the lawn.  Sharon and Brad leveled out the grass where they pulled the tree stumps and McKay and his family helped with the mowing tent sites and picking up sticks.  Mom and Dad did it all.   I miss the trees, so I hope that the trees they planted to replace the cottonwoods grow quickly.

We took Hannah up with us.  She's only ever been to girls camp so I hope she had fun camping.

Roger, Moana, Keith, Kelly, Bobbi Jo, Sharon's legs (hehehe)

After all the work was done, we took the family out for pizza.

Seth "The Hulk"

This picture is awesome and unfortunate.  Brad and I are both big people but we ended up on the outside of the fish eye lens effect.  I look about a 50lbs bigger than I actually am.  Oops.

Early morning view.

Evelyn and some amazing clouds.

Catch up for end of May

Cousin Jordan invited us up to his birthday party at Boondocks.  He's growing up so fast.

Seth and the messy lego/toy room

We had a bbq with my parents and Uncle Seth gave Evelyn an angry octopus to hug.  She loves it so much.

Jer and I made Evelyn a pancake breakfast for her birthday.

And she requested a Tucanos dinner instead of a family dinner.  She ate more meat than she eats in a year plus a plateful of sushi.

Evelyn's birthday

Sarah is our neighbor and friend. She and Evelyn have bonded this year as she's driven our kids back and forth to school. For Evelyn's birthday, she made her a stuffed creeper.  Evelyn's in love.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
