Ada's play

Ada just finished being in the play Descendents. She told them that she wanted to sing but not really have speaking parts, so they put her in all three of the ensembles.  She got good at costume changes. She had a lot of fun and made new friends.  She had a lot of support too. Friends, neighbors, Grandma and Grandpa Wilcox, McKay and Sophie's family, our YW's class, Sam's Deacon's class and our immediate family all went to support Ada, Dani and Blake from our neighborhood.

It took an hour and a half to get to the point, but the theme of the play is that every man should have the freedom to choose if they will be evil or good.

Pictures from camera

Evelyn had a family ballet show... I went and took a couple pictures.  She's really been improving since last year.

This was on my SD card from our Stake Youth activity. We went ice skating.

This week

This week I watched Peter and Rosie twice.  This picture was so funny.  Ada was holding Rosie and joking about how she was probably going to poop because she was scowling. Then Ada pretended to make the same scowling face and Rosie did not like that at all.

The younger two's charter school did a skate night at Classic Skating.  Those are always fun.  This is the first one that we've come to since Covid started, so Seth and Evelyn were especially excited.

Wed, Sam was rollerblading to his piano lesson and missed the curb.  He ended up in the splits and couldn't stand after that.  I took him in to the Insta-Care for x-rays.  Nothing broken and no floating fluid patches, so probably no torn tendons.  He couldn't walk for two days, then started hopping around the third day and walking the fourth and by Sunday he was able to pass the sacrament at church with Jer.  I'd never seen both of them pass together and it was a neat experience for me at least. He's still no up to running, so he missed the first and probably the second soccer games of the season, but I'm just glad he's healing.

We were showing each other how to smile behind a mask.

I loved her onesie so I had to document it with a picture.

On Friday, we were able to go to the Symphony with Jim and meet Amy, Jon, Mariah, Aubrey and her boyfriend up there.  We usually don't go this often, but we had so many tickets roll over to the next season because we couldn't use them last year. It was a beautiful symphony and Aubrey's guy seems really nice.  They met in band because they both play the trombone.

Jer and I stopped to get a treat afterwards...

This last Saturday was the beginning on of our next Spring soccer season.  Ada was very prepared for it and they actually got her a jersey that fit this time.  She was running all over the field and did very well. She had a very intense 24 hours.  Friday night she was in the school play... danced and sang all night. Sat morning was her soccer game and Sat at 2 was the play matinee... Sunday she crashed because she was just so tired. Evelyn made her mad and Ada kicked a hole in the back of the door.  It really surprised her.  She felt awful and didn't realize that she could do that.  She was trying to close the door and get some space from Evelyn.  I don't think she'll make that mistake again.

Saturday was busy but amazing.  9am: Ada's soccer game... then clean the house til 1pm. Get Ada to the school for the matinee, get Seth and Jer to their soccer game (Jer's still his coach and Seth LOVES it), Sam had to miss his game because he was just starting to walk again... drop Evelyn and Seth off for Ada's play (I saw it Thursday night with our YW's class).  They watched it with my parents and my brother, McKay, brought his kids down to watch it.  Then we met everyone at my parents house for food and chatting.  Jer, Evelyn and I left for about two hours to go to Emma's birthday hot dog roast in her back yard.

You can just see how great of a mom Emma is.  She provides opportunities for her kids to play, teaches Peter kindness, deals with Rosie's acid reflux like a pro and still tries to make time for fun for herself.

After Emma's, it was back to my parents.  Sorry Dad and McKay, my camera doesn't do the wide angle thing very well.

And side note, James and Becca are in town.  I hope we get to see them, but understand if we don't.  James' grandpa passed away this weekend. He raised James and is more of a Dad to him. So I get it if there isn't time to say hi and they need to be other places.

One more of the opera

Mom and Dad date night....

The week of March 18th

Ada made and hung posters all over the school for Student Council.  She's so excited about it.

Sam makes a good pied piper.  The kids are always so amazed every time he pulls out his flute to practice.  I think it makes him want to practice more too.

Jim, Jer and I went to Tosca.  The theater was built for 4'11" pioneer bodies, so all of us had problems with our knees shoved into the row in front of us, but the balcony was not full and we got to spread out a little bit after the intermission.  It was an excellent production and the lady that played Tosca was very good.

We were waiting for scripture studies and Jer loved that the kids were all laying on me reading... they were pretty mad that they were asked to smile at the camera and stop reading, but I'm glad they did.  They're super cute.

I've been remiss

I just realized that I haven't written for about three weeks.  Too much to catch up on really, so here are a couple short posts to catch up.
Jer wanted to show his parents the new Dune movie, so we masked up and spent a nice night.  I remember that I came late because I had to do something, but I don't remember what at this point. Evelyn is in love with Grandma's doll "house".  They turned what used to be a small storage room into a doll house.  Evelyn doesn't remember it at all, so it was like she was discovering it for the first time.  She was super excited.

We also got to watch Ellie's baptism.  I really like that zoom baptisms have become a thing.  We've been so lucky to see several far away cousins get baptized in the last two years.

Some things that we did the week of March 12th: Gave rides to the Sister missionaries, worked on taxes, played D&D and I got to go to a musical fireside with Ada.  5 of our neighbors are in a musical choir and they had scheduled a fireside with my Uncle Brad Wilcox that had been cancelled because of lockdowns before he got called into the general YM Presidency.  They were finally able to do it.  Ada and I walked in and no one was on the front row.  It was nice because I was able to give him a big hug, which I haven't been able to do since lockdowns. People have been so mean to him lately, so he wasn't as smiley as I know him to be, but he did an excellent job.  He talked about St Patrick (since it was the week of st patrick's day).  He talked about redemption and serving those that enslaved him as a child. It was a sweet message. Ada drew some great pictures of missionaries.

Ada's student council video

Ada and her friends, Hunter and Kooper, spent the weekend learning to shoot and edit photos for their bids for student council.  It's fun watching her learn and grow.  They were supposed to do a video to introduce themselves.  I loved the Ada loves to read part.

Life after Covid

So the kids and I had a stuffy nose 3 weeks ago, and because we were going to be seeing Amy the next day I went and got tested for Covid.  It came back positive and we stayed home for the next few days.  Seth, Evelyn and Sam were all congested, but all the tests came back negative except mine.  We stayed home anyways.  It was nice to have some down time.  The only difference for me between an allergy attack or cold for me was the fact that I had sensitive skin for a while.  My skin would get tingly or itchy randomly and I couldn't have my hair down on my neck while I was trying to go to sleep. I felt better within just a couple days and all our follow tests came back negative.... so either we had Covid or we had a cold and my test came back positive for a minute.  Then we got back to normal life again.

We've had lots of snow lately.... it's crazy.

Evelyn and Dad learned a swing dance together at Evelyn's ballet studio Daddy-Daughter date.

We had a turkey in the freezer that Sam brought up when I asked him to get ground turkey.  Instead of putting it back in the freezer, we stuck it in the fridge and made a big yummy dinner a few days later.

Ada's and my YW's class was in charge of a getting to know you activity for our YW.  We have a lot of new people and it was fun.  Ada and her friend Dani were the MCs.

I can't get over how grown up this kid is looking.  Stop growing!

Our Stake had an ice skating activity this last Sat.  It was fun and proud Momma.... Ada and Sam are both fairly good ice skaters because we go at least once a year.  They both helped others that had never been ice skating before.

We also went to the Game Grid to play games with Uncle Seth.  We invited Ada's friend, Kooper, to play Magic with her since there were not enough Warhammer spots.

Seth played with the Magic players and then came to watch us.

Daddy-Daughter Date.  Evelyn was absolutely beaming.

Messy daycare nap time.

Seth's class did the show what you know.  He's the one in the front in the green jacket.  He also got his name drawn for getting in the 1000 minute/month reading drawing.  He was so excited to get a prize and Evelyn was pretty jealous.

YW's and YM's was a life-sized foosball game.  It was such a blast.  The day before that, Ada and I had taught the Priest's in the other ward a fencing class.

And of course we had our dentist visit this week.  Sam and Mom both had cavities.  Sam also had his best visit behavior wise.

Peter spent the night with us.  Putting him to bed was so funny.  He looked straight like a soldier.

We got a chance to do the puzzle that the Hansen's gave us for Christmas too.  It was a fun puzzle.

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
