Hawaii Tuesday

Tuesday we woke up early because we were still on our regular time clocks.  We went to the harbor and caught a boat to go snorkeling.  It was so much fun! We saw coral, fish, urchin, turtles, etc.... They made sure that we used coral safe sun block and all our food trash made it to the garbage can.  Sam even dropped his snorkeling mask and one of the guides dove to get it because you want to keep the coral healthy.  Seth had a hard time with it until they provided him with a boogie board that had a view port in it.  He was much happier with that one.  Ada and Dad got to go snuba diving.  It's like scuba diving, but they have a little boat that they float your oxygen tank in at the surface and you have about half an hour to dive down about 15 feet below the surface and look around.  They both said it was amazing, but our water camera had run out of battery by the time they got to doing it.

We were right where the humpback whales migrate through during mating and birthing season.  We got to see quite a few whales with their babies and their escorts.  It was cute to see the baby whales tales or when they jumped out of the water to imitate the older ones.

This is a baby and momma.

This was on the flight the day before.  I just hadn't caught it to post it.

The boat had a slide that they pulled out about halfway through our snorkeling trip.  It was attached to the upper deck and Ada and Sam loved it.  Ada didn't love getting salt water up her nose and in her eyes, so she didn't love it so much.

This splash is Sam.

This flying one is Evelyn.

While he doesn't look it, Seth really did have fun.

The one and only picture of me in the water.... It looks a lot more like jaws is out to get someone.

Ada, Sam, Evelyn and Seth.  We went up to the top deck and no one else on the boat came up, so we had it all to ourselves.

After snorkeling half the day, the kids weren't done with the water so we went swimming at the beach next to the airbnb.  It was literally a block away.  It was so fun.  I was done by this point and just lay down in the sand and fell asleep.  The kids still weren't done with the water, so we had them spray off in the hose and went swimming at the pool at the airbnb.  Then we showered and slept really well.

Travelling to Hawaii

So we left to Hawaii last Monday.  My Dad drove us to the airport at 5am (sorry Dad!).  We flew to LAX in California and after a 6 hour lay over a 5 hour flight to Maui.  We got our rental van, made a visit to Costco to stock up for the week and drove to our Airbnb where we all passed out.

We took lots of pictures and walked around the airport sooooo much during our layover.

Welcome to Hawaii.

Various photos

So, we have been in planning mode and accidentally celebrated St. Patrick's Day 3 days early.  It was fun anyways.

This one was a picture of when Vivien and Thea joined in (today) on our neighborhood easter egg hunt.  It was fun to see all our neighbors and actually do our fun tradition after missing it last year.

So far, my parents, me and two of my siblings are vaccinated.

Emma and Stephen bought a house 10 minutes away from us!  I'm so excited.  I love spending time with them and we've missed everyone this last while.  While they are doing some remodeling they have asked a couple people to keep an eye on Peter.  It was my turn a couple days this last week.  He's a Covid baby, so we haven't seen him really more than twice.  He had a little adjustment time, but liked hanging out while he was being entertained.  He looks so much like all the little Brashers with his bright blue eyes, blond curls and cheeks. And like a true Brasher, he loves blocks.

My kids twinning.

My vaccine selfie.  I'm terrible at selfies.  One eye is always bigger than the other and I'm always looking in the wrong spot.... but there it is.

My parents added a deck off their back porch that required pouring cement.  All the kids put their hands in it.  Seth put his in three times, but who's counting?

My sister was in the hospital with sepsis after a surgery.  She's all healed now, but she needed help with the girls for the weekend.  Here Thea is helping Ada practice the piano.

I got the Last Airbender earrings.  I rather like them.

hmmm

Conversation between six-year-old Seth and 13 year old Ada.

Ada: hey Seth come here I want to show you a magic trick.
Seth: what kind of a magic trick?
Ada: a very magic magic trick
Seth: will it kill me?
Ada: no
Seth: okay

Rhees Family

This is such a fun family.  They're sweet and playful.  It's fun to get to know them and try not to freeze in the cold rain!  It was...
