Jacob's ordination

Can you believe how grown up this man has gotten?!

Our nephew, Jacob, invited Jer to be a part of his Ordination to be an Elder.  We wouldn't miss it!  He was nice enough to put it off about a month so that we could come up for Emma's graduation too.  It was a really neat experience to think about all the people that Jacob will be able to serve throughout his life.  He has an amazing mind, and he has matured so much in the last few years.  I loved sitting next to him in Sunday School and hearing the maturity in his answers.  I'll continue enjoying watching him grow and serve.

Evelyn is 3

She's trying really hard to say that she's 3... So Evelyn and Matthew share a birthday... Matthew was nice enough to let Evelyn jump in on the party and share in opening a couple presents and eat birthday cake with him.  Evelyn told me that I needed to give her a present... I guess she knows that that's how birthdays work.  You have a birthday, mom gives you a present.  She is such a spunky, cuddle loving, story telling girl.  Since her birthday, she's put in a double effort to use the potty and averages about 3-4 times a day when she volunteers to go.  She wakes up with a dry diaper almost every day.  I don't want to spoil it with forcing her into panties again... but I sure can see that happening soon.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Cousin Emma's graduation

It happened, and I bet Emma thought it never would!  My wonderful, talented and sweet niece just graduated from High School... so we went to hang out for the weekend.  We were able to take up our nieces Ruth and Kate too.  They were so sweet and fun the entire time.  Looking through my pictures, I couldn't find a single one that I took of Emma though... and I'm sure that Emma prefers it that way for now... so we'll show these little cuties while we're applauding Emma.  She has a job at a flower shop and is going to start doing some of their arranging this summer.  I think she's going to be amazing at it... she is a very creative woman.

Evelyn and Samuel being knights... Evelyn in her en guarde position.

This is cousin Matthew, he was nice enough to share his birthday present with the kids... they made it into a game... they put a target on the side of the fort and Ada kept track of points of her "special paper".

My kids love my camera

Here are a few gems that my kids have snapped with my camera lately....

Memorial Day

So, considering I'm always a day late and a dollar short, a post about a week late isn't too bad.

Memorial Day this year was fun.  We painted our new porch extension with the kids... they loved it, especially Evelyn.  Ada liked that she could reach higher than the other two kids.  After that, we went with my parents to my Dad's parents graves.  It was a really good example for the kids of what Memorial Day is.  A day when we remember our ancestors, like my Grandma Val, who they remember.  Also a day to remember those that have served in the military in any form, like my Grandpa Ray, who was a soldier in WWII.  My dad told stories about my Grandpa as a soldier, we looked across the street to where my Grandma was an elementary school teacher, and we saw the graves of my great-uncle, great-aunt, great-grandparents, and a few others.

Nachoooooo!

So, my brother has this Nacho Libre mask... Evelyn found it and made him wear it while they were playing dress up together.  Evelyn said that Nacho was trying to steal her crown.  Awesome.

Swimming lessons

Three kids did swimming lessons... Three kids loved them... They've been good for mom's blood pressure but not for mom's ability to breathe. Tomorrow is the last day and I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad.

Starry Night

This is a best balloon sculpture made for the Orem Library to kick off their summer reading program.  We couldn't come to the kickoff but I sure wanted to change see this. How fun would this be to make!?

No super powers here

My dad and my sister Janelle were swinging Evelyn back and forth and telling her they were going to throw her into the sky.  She loved being swung but said, "No!  I don't have super powers!"  At least she knows pretend from real!  Love that she would be safe anyways.
