Funny things I don't want to forget...

First of all... the last couple of weeks have been hilarious.  Here are a couple of the more choice tidbits...

Sammy, got dropped off at Nursery... still adjusting... and the one leader that he does really well with wasn't there... so he got down on the floor at the crack in the door and just bawled, "Daddy, WHERE ARE YOU!?"

Another time, we put Sammy down to sleep at Grandma and Grandpa's while Jer worked on trains with his dad... Sammy just cried for a half an hour... finally stopped crying and started yelling, "I'm happy!.... Yay!"  (Kind of like... I'll stop throwing a tantrum, just come get me please!)

Ada found a toy stethoscope while playing and decided to check my heart... Her heart was fine, Evelyn's heart was fine, but, "Mommy you're very dead..." (Surprise to me right?)

Jer and I left the kids with my friend Robyn while we went to the SLC temple with his sister... the next day when Robyn stopped by to get something Ada looked at me and said, "Mommy, can you and Daddy go to the temple to get married and Robyn can stay here with me?"

And Ada has been pretending to be different animals lately... among the many... cat, dog, bull, tiger, bird... but her favorite and loudest choice is a horse... obviously horses spend a lot of their time screaming, "NEIGH!" and rearing... and what did she decided to be all through church today?  A horse... all through sacrament you could hear her... and in turn... me ("Ada, sit down!  We don't act like horses in church.  Is that reverent?")  And more than likely she was a contributing factor in the Sunbeams today... The class of 7 Sunbeams were so rowdy in Primary that they were excused to their separate class early so that they could practice being reverent.  Nice.

My sister Sharon was over the other day and had to leave in the middle of my kids naps... so when Ada woke up and found that she had gone home she had the saddest, most tragic look on her face and was trying so hard not to cry... So... I think she loves you Sharon even if she runs away when you ask her for a hug...

And finally... Ada is ready for baby Evelyn.  She keeps talking about when she comes out of me (so I don't explode) then she can rock her and sing to her and help feed her.  And today she brought me a doll dress and put it on my tummy.  She said, "Mommy it fits her just right!"

Lily

Here's a cute little girl!  Her name is Lily...

kids...

So, Sammy has been starting to clap twice and saying, "Mama!" when he wants my attention... I guess I do clap when the kids won't look at me right away... pretty funny.

At Robyn's bday party at our house... I tried to get Ada to ask Emily how she knew Aunt Nella... and of course Emily says, " We went to the moon together.  You should get Nella to take you there."  Ada then asked if she could call Aunt Nella... so we did. And what do you know?  The first thing out of her mouth is, "I want to go to the moon!"  Funny!

Yay!

So I was really nervous last night and this morning... I don't know why it hasn't been all month... maybe those years of craming for tests... but we had the second ultrasound to check on Evelyn's heart.  She's okay!  I would have taken her with or without heart problems, but what a blessing in her life to have physical health and what a blessing in ours not to have the stress and financial strain that health problems create.  She looks really good actually... she's grown a ton... now she's 5 days ahead instead of 4 days behind... despite all the flu and colds that have been going around our house.  And a comforting thought on my part... the tech was kind of laughing because she's laying sideways in me instead of up and down... that explains in part why I don't have the "pregnancy belly" but instead have a "pregnancy tube".  Silly Evelyn...

While I'm writing I'm listening to my kids that are supposed to be napping... instead they're in there singing and probably not eve in bed anymore.  On the one hand... if they'd just nap we could do stuff together... on the other hand... if they're happy without my undivided attention that's okay with me.

Thank you mom for watching kids for me and thank you to your boss for letting you watch them during your shift!  I was trying to explain to Ada that they were taking pictures of the baby's heart to see if it was sick or if she was not... when I told Ada afterwards that the baby's heart wasn't sick she just smiled and said, "Then I'll get to hold her and rock her and feed her like this!"  I love how excited she is for her sister!  And I love that the last two days Sammy has been ALOT less clingy and just generally happier to let me do things like go to the bathroom and shower on my own.  Thank you Sammy!

Funny girl...

So yesterday after Ada woke up from her nap I said, "Hi sweet stuff!"  She just giggled and said, "I'm not sweet stuff!  I'm Ada!"

Egg free sugar cookie recipe

This was a yummy recipe that I found online of Egg free sugar cookies.  They're very soft and they were easy to work with.  With Sammy, I found out we can't make them with frosting because powdered sugar has corn in it... I guess we'll arrange something else for next time... (cool whip has corn syrup so it can't be that... any other ideas?)

-1pkg (8oz) cream cheese, softened
-3/4 c (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened
-1 c granulated sugar
-2 tsp vanilla
-3 c flour
-1/2 tsp baking soda
-1/4 cup colored sugar or sprinkles (which Sammy can't have since they have corn starch in them)

Beat the cream cheese, butter, granulated sugar and vanilla in a bowl with a mixer on medium speed until blended.  Add the flour and baking soda; mix well. Cover. Refrigerate 30 min.

Preheat oven to 350°F.  Roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness on a floured surface.  Cut into shapes.  Place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar.

Bake 10-12 min. or until edges begin to brown.  Let cool completely.

Jer's Valentine

So, I don't really tend to make a big deal about Valentines Day... but I do want to do Valentines cards for everyone... and flowers for our girls.  And Jer did it!  He got me a beautiful bouquet of pink roses and Ada a bouquet of springy yellow flowers... and he made me this card... It's awesome, perfect and very much us.

And yes... that is his Mii from the Wii.

You know those moments?

You know... the ones that really shouldn't be all that funny but you can't help laughing anyways?  Well, tonight was the Robertson Valentines Day party... and that means that Ada got to play with Anya and Grace... Sammy got to play with Rocky and Joey... but part of that play sometimes gets messy and destructive... Well, after all the other kids had left Judy called us in to show us the newest addition to the destruction category.  Her poor plants in the front room.  It's one of those really long leafy ones that are really hard to kill... and it had been stripped of all the leaves...  It turns out that Ada and Rachel had been pretending that the leaves were all trees and their food... (I don't know if they were dinosaurs or horses or something...) and had picked all the leaves off the plant and put them in piles in the entertainment center.  Ada was at first saying that it was Rachel that had done it... but then she told us where the other pile of leaves were.  Pretty sure that she helped out with this one.  We tried to get her to apologize to Grandma for killing her plant and all we could get out of her were these very dramatic sobs.  We ended up putting her in time out until she could apologize.  After about 15 minutes of time out she decided that she'd apologize and I just asked her what she did wrong so that she remembered what she was apologizing for... and she told me that it was because the plant was sad.  True that.

In preparation

So one of my favorite Valentine's Day traditions was my mom always made sugar cookies with our names on them... And my mom let me tag along this year while she made them... and we ate them.  We also made a batch of egg free ones for Sam... which surprised me... but they turned out really good.  Here are my cute Valentine cookie makers...

Helping Grandma with the frosting...

Ada was so proud of her name on it!  So exciting!

Sammy kept using the cookie cutter as a phone and saying, "Hello?"

Then he put it up to his face and said, "Cheese!"

Ada washing dishes... good clean up crew!

You'll love this...

So, I never really buy things online... every now and then I get stuff from Amazon, but just this once... I used another website, but she's connected to ebay and to paypal... So, she cancelled the order because she couldn't find one of the two items ordered... She never asked if I wanted the other one or if I would accept a replacement for the one that she couldn't find... She just said, "Sorry, I can't find the one..."  Nice.  Oh well, I can live without... I'd rather not do business with someone who doesn't communicate with me very well.  Then I got an email from PayPal to rate the transaction with her.  I didn't think I was rude... Jer says that I was... I wasn't trying to be... I was trying to be honest about my "transaction".

Here's what I said:
She canceled on me. She couldn't find one of the items. Instead of shipping the other she cancelled.

Then here's the response that I got back to my PERSONAL email account... not through the rating section of PayPal... :  (I'm editing a couple of words... but you can probably guess what they are...)
wow really??? How can you be so rude to neg me and bring my ratings down on my store without even TELLING me you wanted the other pony. What kind of world is it where a buyer can do something so absolutely rude. Did you even READ my terms and conditions. I have a massive collection of ponies and health problems. I'd like to see you do a better job, sometimes when you have 600+ ponies things tend to get lost. Thanks for being an ******* for no reason. I should neg you on all the boards, even the score. Sound good??? I'm sure you have some great social skills in the real world! is that how you deal with things? Passive aggressive **.

Nice... I wonder if she knows that I manage and online business and have for almost 4 years... and I have never treated a customer or even a potential customer like that... if there is a misunderstanding I say sorry and go my way.  How does this negative criticism to my personal email solve any problem?  (Bytheway... I checked on PayPal, to remove a negative comment from your list... you contact the customer with whom you've had the problem... solve it and then have the customer email PayPal and remove the negative rating... I would have been willing to do that... now I'm sure as heck not.  I'd rather people know the kind of person they're paying than not.)

So Jer's in time out

Packing up kids in the car to go anywhere is interesting for any family with kids... no matter the age.  But the other day Jer helped me get kids in the car and when I started backing out of the driveway he jumped on the hood of the car... Those who know Jer... know that that's the sort of thing that he does... but Ada just knows Jer as Daddy... From the inside of the car he could have heard, "No Daddy!  We don't climb on the car!  Daddy get off!  You're in trouble... you need to go to time out."  So Jer was sent to sit in his car as a time out while he went on his way and we went on ours.

Pregnancy hair...

You didn't know that there was such a thing did you?  I didn't... but hormones... who knows what they'll do?  For about a month now I've had about a two inch patch of hair on my head that is consistently greasy... I swear I shower every day... I've changed shampoos twice, stoped taking my Omega-3's, and all I've gotten for it is fuzzy hair with a grease spot in the middle... So if you see me walking down the street... Don't worry, I did shower this morning.

Funny Story

So, since last night was supposed to be the coldest night in three years we tried to take some extra precautions....   We turned on a space heater under our cupboards and ran the dryer (both of these of unthawed our frozen pipes in the past...), kept our heater up a little warmer than usual, pulled the car forward to not get frost on the wind shield, put an extra towel in Lucy's dog house along with her usual heat lamp, got Lucy in her dog house and put a towel over the door to keep the heat in better, and of course... warm jammies on kids.  And what happened?

Our pipes still froze, Ada ended up kicking off her blanket and being cold. Don't know about Jer's windshield... I'll have to ask him about that, and about noon I noticed that I hadn't seen Lucy running around all morning... I went to go check on her and she was still huddled in her dog house... she thought that the towel over the door was there to keep her in not to keep her warm... funny dog.
